Islington rental apartment

Islington rental apartment

The maisonette flat had not been renovated for 10 years and it looked tired and dated. It was in desperate need of a total revamp. The aim was to create a modern look in order to attract professionals working in the City. The main characteristics of the Georgian building were kept, but the flat, including the bathroom and the kitchen, was upgraded to a high standard. As the design was for a rental flat, the budget was not extensive, so careful consideration was given to selecting fittings and fixtures which were competitively priced, yet stylish and durable, to maintain the impression of a luxury flat.

Refurbishment included removal of walls in the kitchen and dining room area to create an open plan living space. The kitchen worktop was made of a smooth Corian material that ran down the sides to provide a continuous effect. This was complemented with a marble stone effect splash back and an industrial concrete look grey-tone steel tile giving the kitchen a contemporary look.

We used large rectangular tiles in the main bathroom to create a modern and sleek look and continued with the grey colour palette through out the flat.

Within the petite en-suite bathroom, we focused on contrasting colour grouting to add texture and depth to the walls. Clever and compact fittings and fixtures were selected to optimise the space.

The end result was that of a sleek, modern, luxurious looking flat.
