The design process

RESEARCH AND INITIAL PLANNING - THE BRIEF

The preparation and planning is of paramount importance in getting the design right.

I will listen to your story and hear what you want to achieve. In the initial part of the design process I will explore the area, try to understand the space, find out how you navigate through the rooms, what you enjoy about the space and what you would like to change and want to keep. It is important to find out what is achievable, so what can be changed and what need to stay. I will also consider the amount of lighting available, ceiling heights etc.

Then it is essential to find out about the life style of your family living at the house. We can discuss about your likes and dislikes as well as your preferences. It will make the process easier if you have a list of requirements, a wish list and a budget in mind. Although the latter is not always easy to know, but we can work on it together.

Timing is also very important, so let me know what you have in mind.

LAYOUT AND SPACE PLANNING

The space planning stage is always an integral part. Here we can find what is possible within the space. We can make the necessary changes in order to improve the way you use the space that best works for you. Function is equally important as the aesthetic look. The key of good design is to get them both right.

A selection of drawings will be made, depending on the project requirement: floor plan, 3-dimensional plan (3D), elevations, lighting design and work schedules. All the drawings will ensure that every step of the decisions are carefully detailed and thought through in order to ensure it all fits together into the complete design.

CREATIVE PLANNING

I will turn your ideas and concept from your brief into a workable scheme. Here we will start mixing colours, texture and pattern and we will create a mood board for you.

SOURCING

When we are done with the plans, I will put my research hat on and go and find every single piece on our list. I will do endless research in order to find the right pieces and according to the design theme and within the budget. I will look for suppliers locally and globally. I have built and I am continuing to increase an extensive network of trade relationships who offer a great selection of furniture, fittings and accessories with attractive trade discount, which I will pass on to you so your budget can go further.

When the products finally arrive, we will do quality control and will deal with any problem or issue that may arise.

PROJECT COORDINATED AND IMPLEMENTATION

I and the team of expert - contractors, suppliers, architects, artisan and specialist traders will ensure that all works are carried out to our specifications and your expectations.

FINISHING TOUCHES / STYLING

Last but not least, I will assist you to put the finishing touches to complete the final beautiful look.
